Stake President Actions:

  1. Activates Command Center at Stake Center

  2. Prepares for Post Storm EPC meeting

  3.     Notifies Stake Presidency

  6. Calls each Bishop to Activate Plan

  16. Review Action Plan

  18. Reports Status to Regional Emergency Response Leader.:


Church Headquarters needs to know:

  1. 1.      Name, title, and unit of the reporting officer

  2. 2.      How the presiding officer can be reached

  3. 3.      Description, location, and magnitude of the emergency

  4. 4.      Number of members or missionaries injured, missing, or dead

  5. 5.      Location and extent of damage to Church or member property

  6. 6.      Actions being taken to help those in distress

  7. 7.      Needed assistance that is unavailable locally


1st Counselor Actions

  1. 1st Backup to Stake President

  2. Contacts Bishops Storehouse supply assistance.

  3. Discusses Storehouse management & distribution

  4. Monitor News and Weather Reports

  5. Check of Status of Stake Building

  6. Fills out Building Status Form

  7. Reports to Stake President


2nd Counselor Actions

  1. 2nd Backup to Stake President

  2. Coordinates with Relief Society for Relief Assistance

  3. Monitor News and Weather Reports


Stake Clerk  

  1. Prints out Ward Maps with member directions/GPS coordinates

  2. Sets up Operations Log and Work Order System

  3. Coordinates outside church Resources

  4. Records Registration of ERT/Cleanup Teams

  5. Insures Church Disaster Form read/checked off

  6. Records Team Rosters/Assignment

  7. Issues Work Orders, Maps, GPS Coordinates to each Team


High Council


Emergency Preparedness

  1. Calls Emergency Preparedness Committee Meeting.

  2. Emergency Preparedness Specialist

  3. Emergency Communication Specialist

  4. Set up Stake Command Center, Staffing and Operation. (Attachment 9)


Bishops Liaison

  1. Establish contact with Bishops to gather the following information after the storm.

  2.     Numbers of missing, sick, injured, dead, evacuated, flooded and burned out members and number who still need assistance and skilled medical help

  3.     Actions taken to help those in distress and number of volunteers still available to assist

  4. Damage to Church buildings 

  5. Damage to members’ homes

  6. Safety of full-time missionaries

  7. Needed equipment or supplies


Building Use and Maintenance

  1. Coordinates building use and maintenance.


Missionary Status

  1. Checks on status of Missionaries from Ward Mission Leaders and reports to Stake President.


Stake Emergency Preparedness Committee


Emergency Preparedness Specialist

  1. Coordinates Stake Resources between Wards as needed.

  2. Coordinates Outside Medical, Equipment, etc.

  3. Organize Stake response/recovery teams.

  4. Provide list of Stake Officials with GPS devices.

  5. Coordinates with Local Government officials


Emergency Communication Specialist

  1. Setup Stake Emergency Communications Equipment

  2. Insure communications with the Stake President

  3. Setup Stake simplex ERC net

  4. Contact Ward Emergency Communication Specialists

  5. Setup Ward Emergency Communications Equipment

  6. Get them on the net to test equipment
